The VII International Conference on Communication and Applied Technologies (ICOMTA’2027) will take place in Trois-Rivières, Canada, from September 14 to 17, 2027. Researchers from around the world are invited to submit their abstracts and participate in this new edition.
We are delighted to announce the launch of ICOMTA’2027, hosted by the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (Canada). The conference will be held in a hybrid format, allowing researchers, academics, and professionals to participate either in person or online.
Building on the experience of previous editions, ICOMTA’2027 aims to provide an international forum for scientific exchange, interdisciplinary dialogue, and collaboration on the relationship between communication, technology, and contemporary society.
The Call for Abstracts Is Now Open!
Researchers are invited to submit original proposals addressing topics related to communication, emerging technologies, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, journalism, political communication, social media, and other relevant areas of the Social Sciences and Humanities.
The abstract submission deadline is May 1, 2027. Proposals may be submitted in any of the four official languages of the conference: English, French, Spanish, or Portuguese.

A New Submission Process for ICOMTA’2027
This year, ICOMTA introduces a new submission and evaluation process designed to make participation more accessible while maintaining high academic standards.
Unlike previous editions, authors are now required to submit only an abstract of up to 300 words to participate in the conference. There is no need to prepare or submit a full paper during the initial submission stage.
All abstracts will undergo an initial double-blind peer review process, conducted by members of the ICOMTA Scientific Committee. Proposals will be evaluated according to their scientific quality, originality, thematic relevance, and contribution to the field.
Authors will receive notification of the evaluation results within a maximum of 30 days from the date of submission.
Following this initial evaluation, each proposal will receive one of three decisions:
- Invitation to submit a full paper: The proposal is shortlisted for further development and peer review, with a view to potential publication.
- Acceptance for conference presentation only: The proposal is accepted for presentation at ICOMTA’2027, without publication.
- Rejection: The proposal is not accepted.
This new approach allows researchers to participate in ICOMTA’2027 without the obligation to prepare a complete manuscript, while offering additional publication opportunities for selected contributions.
Present Your Research, With or Without Publication
ICOMTA’2027 clearly distinguishes between conference participation and potential publication.
Authors whose proposals are accepted may present their research at the conference, subject to the applicable registration requirements.
Those invited to submit a full paper may proceed to a second evaluation stage, in which complete manuscripts undergo further peer review for potential publication in academic journals, international book series, or edited volumes.
Publication is optional, and an invitation to submit a full paper does not guarantee acceptance for publication. All manuscripts must meet the scientific and editorial requirements of the relevant publication venue.
