Call for Special Session Proposals for ICOMTA’2027 Open Until January 5, 2027

The 7th International Conference on Communication and Applied Technologies (ICOMTA’2027), which will take place from September 14 to 17, 2027, at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (Canada), in a hybrid format (in-person and online), is pleased to announce its Call for Special Session Proposals.

These sessions will bring together researchers, research groups, universities, scientific associations, and other academic institutions to explore specialized topics related to communication, emerging technologies, and the Social Sciences and Humanities.

Special Sessions will be included in the official scientific program of ICOMTA’2027 and will be subject to the same general submission, review, registration, and publication conditions as other conference contributions. Sessions may be conducted in Spanish, English, French, or Portuguese.

Responsibilities of Special Session Organizers

Each Special Session proposal must identify an organizing team comprising the following roles (it is not necessary to appoint separate experts for each role):

  • Academic Coordinator: The person responsible for leading the Special Session.
  • Organizing Committee: Members responsible for supporting the organization and promotion of the session.
  • Scientific Committee: Researchers with expertise in the proposed topic who will contribute to the scientific evaluation of submissions.

The organizing team will be responsible for:

  1. Preparing and disseminating the Special Session’s Call for Contributions within the scientific community.
  2. Encouraging the submission of original research related to the proposed topic.
  3. Coordinating the scientific peer-review process in accordance with the general guidelines of ICOMTA’2027.
  4. Communicating evaluation results in coordination with the Conference Scientific Committee.
  5. Monitoring the registration of authors whose submissions have been accepted.
  6. Ensuring compliance with the presentation and participation requirements established by ICOMTA’2027.
  7. Appointing session chairs to moderate presentations and discussions.
  8. Supporting, where applicable, authors invited to submit full manuscripts for potential publication.

How to Submit a Special Session Proposal

Interested individuals, research groups, and institutions must submit their proposals by January 5, 2027, to:

icomtamail@gmail.com

The email subject line must be: Special Session Proposal – ICOMTA’2027 – [Proposed Session Title].

Each proposal must include:

  • Special Session title.
  • Committee composition: Full names, institutional affiliations, and email addresses of committee members.
  • Session description and scientific relevance: A maximum of 300 words outlining the topic, objectives, originality, and expected contribution.
  • Keywords: Three to five keywords.
  • Initial contributions: Each Special Session proposal must include at least five proposed presentations, with their respective titles, abstracts, and authors’ names.
  • Language(s) of the Special Session: Spanish, English, French, or Portuguese.

Each abstract must be no longer than 300 words and should outline the research objectives, methodology, findings or expected results, and scientific contribution.

Acceptance and Participation Requirements

Important!

To be considered, each Special Session proposal must be accompanied by at least five abstracts, whose authors commit to completing the corresponding conference registration if their contributions are accepted.

Acceptance of a Special Session does not automatically imply acceptance of the proposed presentations. Each contribution must successfully complete the scientific review process established by ICOMTA’2027.

Scientific Review and Publication Opportunities

Contributions submitted to Special Sessions will follow the same evaluation procedure as those submitted to the general conference.

First stage: Abstract review. Authors must submit an abstract of up to 300 words, which will undergo scientific peer review. Submissions may be accepted for presentation, selected for consideration in a subsequent publication stage, or rejected.

Second stage: Full manuscript submission (optional and by invitation). Authors of selected contributions who are interested in publication may be invited to submit a full paper. These manuscripts will undergo a further peer-review process and must comply with the applicable editorial requirements.

Publication is not mandatory to participate in ICOMTA’2027. Likewise, acceptance of a presentation at the Conference does not guarantee publication.

Special Sessions will be subject to the same general registration conditions and will have access to the same publication opportunities as other conference contributions.

Important Dates

  • January 5, 2027: Deadline for Special Session proposals.
  • May 1, 2027: General deadline for abstract submissions.
  • September 14–17, 2027: ICOMTA’2027 Conference in Trois-Rivières, Canada.

The ICOMTA’2027 Organizing Committee will communicate the evaluation results of Special Session proposals and provide further instructions to the coordinators of accepted sessions.
